I was having transmission problems on my 2018 Honda Ridgeline. My local mechanic who I trust immensely, diagnosed it and suggested I take it to a transmission shop. When I asked where he would take it he suggested Transmission Specialist in Auburn Wa. It was about a 35min drive away but I made the appointment and took it in. The woman at the counter, who I had spoken to on the phone was very helpful and friendly. She said the truck would be checked out that day and I would get a call with what they found. I got the call from Donald, who I believe is the owner, he said the issue was most likely the torque converter. He suggested a complete fluid flush which he said may resolve the problem, if it didn’t I’d probably be looking at a new or rebuilt transmission. He told me a complete flush required a specialized piece of equipment which he did not have and suggested I find someone to do the flush and if it fixed the problem, great but if not, bring it back and we could discuss the next step. THE MOST IMPRESSIVE part: When I asked what I owed for his time and the information, he wouldn’t take any money. I thanked him, he smiled and said “That’s what we do”.

So so good service and reasonable

No services this time and no charge after inspections and diagnosis revealed issues other than suspected (and not transmission as originally suspected). We've used them in the past for a bad transmission and came back to them as we trust their work.

The owner was very helpful and they left nothing unturned in diagnosing my vehicle. He listened carefully taking the extra step to find an issue non related that was a problem. Grateful, thank you!

Transmission Specialists Algona is the best there is. We had our Ford Taurus X towed there for a diagnosis. Donald checked it out thoroughly for a great price. He kept it for a few days and drove it numerous times to test it. And the price to diagnose it was the most reasonable I have ever seen. Best auto repair place I have ever encountered. I had a good experience. Transmission specialists was the only company out of eight that even offered a solution to my problem, all the others didn't want anything to do with it. The price estimate in the beginning was what I paid, no hidden costs. The staff was nice to work with. I would use this company again without hesitation.
