I was having transmission problems on my 2018 Honda Ridgeline. My local mechanic who I trust immensely, diagnosed it and suggested I take it to a transmission shop. When I asked where he would take it he suggested Transmission Specialist in Auburn Wa. It was about a 35min drive away but I made the appointment and took it in. The woman at the counter, who I had spoken to on the phone was very helpful and friendly. She said the truck would be checked out that day and I would get a call with what they found. I got the call from Donald, who I believe is the owner, he said the issue was most likely the torque converter. He suggested a complete fluid flush which he said may resolve the problem, if it didn’t I’d probably be looking at a new or rebuilt transmission. He told me a complete flush required a specialized piece of equipment which he did not have and suggested I find someone to do the flush and if it fixed the problem, great but if not, bring it back and we could discuss the next step. THE MOST IMPRESSIVE part: When I asked what I owed for his time and the information, he wouldn’t take any money. I thanked him, he smiled and said “That’s what we do”.
